The Berezani Community Foundation, in partnership with ISAR Unity, the Ukrainian Independent Center for Political Studies (UCIPR), and the Center for Democracy and the Rule of Law (CEDEM), conducts research through the United States Agency for International Development on “Sectoral Civil Society Initiatives” ».
The aim of the study is to improve the conditions of civil society and strengthen the institutional capacity of civil society to increase the self-sufficiency of the public sector in Kyiv region. As part of the project, the Berezani Community Foundation attracts a wide range of stakeholders, experts in civil society development to conduct analytical and research work.
During the focus groups, the issues of forming a regional dimension of achievements and problems of civil society, identifying regional trends and requests for development, highlighting the main achievements and problems faced by civil society throughout its development are discussed. It also outlines the main challenges facing the public sector and ways to further develop it, taking into account the specifics of the regions.
The Foundation has already conducted:
On August 8, in Pereyaslav-Khmelnytsky, two focus groups with representatives of the Council of Churches of Pereyaslav region with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Pentecostals, Seventh-day Adventists, Baptists, Shekhin Community of the Messianic direction.
Also on August 8, a similar event was held in Berezan with the participation of representatives of the 7th Day Adventist Churches, Christians of the Evangelical Faith, the Full Gospel and the Shekhin Community of the Messianic direction.
On August 12, in Berezan, the Foundation's staff held 4 focus groups with the participation of representatives of civil society organizations, business, Berezan City Council and the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
In the near future, we plan to conduct 5 focus groups in various sectors of civil society in Kyiv region and 15 in-depth interviews for qualitative research.
The involvement and sincerity of each participant's answers is a very important component, as the voice of each organization will strengthen the process of developing regional civil society development plans in Ukraine by involving regional expertise.
